Overview

This website is dedicated to tracking and understanding aircraft noise in the vicinity of the Dane County Regional Airport. In addition to live tracking of aircraft and noise levels in the areas around the airport, recorded data are used to track trends in aircraft noise over time.

There are two components to the system:

• A system of noise monitoring stations reporting live outdoor ambient decibel readings at locations hosted by volunteers.


• An aircraft-tracking system based on publicly transmitted data from aircraft in the area.

All information is updated once per second, and archived for later analysis to identify individual aircraft noise events.

While reasonable efforts have been made to make the information as accurate as possible, the data are presented here 'as-is', with no guarantees.
